Introducing the newest hostel in the Canadian Rockies, Fireweed Hostel is now open.
Nestled in the Kicking Horse Valley, surrounded by tall mountain peaks, the hostel is central to amazing sights and year round activities and has direct access to many classic hikes (including the Burgess Shale fossil beds) and cross-country ski trails. Our position for accessing any part of the four national mountain parks, Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho is unsurpassed.
The hostel, new in February 2007, is small, clean and friendly. Our hostel is 'boutique style' offering high quality accommodation and suitable for the discerning traveller. As ex world travellers we understand the needs of people on the move and have many years of experience in the local tourism industry. This beautiful mountain Hostel is located in the town of Field, Yoho National Park in the Canadian Rockies. Stay with us and experience living in a real mountain Community.
Reception is open from 9.00am-Noon and 4:00pm to 9pm every day. Late night check ins are available on request, please ask!
Rooms are usually available from 4.00pm but if you arrive early we are happy to store your luggage.

Accomodations and Facilities
Fireweed Hostel is a smoke free environment, and pets are not permitted. No outdoor shoes/boots permitted in the hostel, slippers/booties are recommended.
Each bedroom has mountain views, solid pine bunk beds, and warm cork flooring. Beds have pillow top mattress and are set with poly cotton sheets. Down duvets and pillows are provided. The beds are doubles or twins with private lights. Plug-ins are provided for those who need to charge their mobile phones etc. There are individual lockers under the beds, big enough for a rucksack, with padlocks available (deposit required). You will be given keys to lock your room.
Four rooms in total, each with 2 bunk beds. Rooms have different configurations of double and/or twins and accommodate up to six people.
Rooms or the entire hostel can be booked privately. No sleeping bags allowed.
No sheet change during length of stay unless requested.
Two Bedroom Suite
Looking for a Holiday apartment? Fireweed Hostel offers a private 2-bedroom apartment complete with kitchen, bathroom (tub/shower) living room and private entrance. 2 bedrooms each with one queen bed; perfect for 4 people.
Shared bathrooms and showers are located adjacent to bedrooms. Towels are available for rent.
The self-catering kitchen is fitted with worktops, shelving, fridge, crockery and cutlery, 4-ring burner cooker with oven, toasters, kettles, coffee makers and 2 microwaves. Pots, pans and all kitchen equipment are provided; freezer and barbeque also available. Food storage bins are provided for your food.
Guests prepare their own meals. We ask everyone to leave the kitchen and dining room clean after themselves.
Miscellaneous food items available for use including sugar, flour, salt and pepper, vegetable oil.
The dining room is alongside the kitchen and seats up to 18 people on 4 tables.
For those who do not wish to self cater, there are several dining options in the area; Truffle Pigs Café, Emerald Lake Lodge and the Kicking Horse Lodge.
The stunning lounge has wonderful views through numerous windows overlooking the Kicking Horse Valley and mountains. Relax with fireplace, television, stereo (suitable for radio, CD's, Ipod hook up) travel library and comfortable seating.
Large deck offers fantastic views of Kicking Horse Valley and River and the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Laundry Facilities / Drying Room
Commercial washing machine dryer (coin operated) available across street at the Kicking Horse Lodge. We have a drying room with fan, and boot racks etc..
Our private car park is adjacent to the hostel on Wall Street.
WIFI access complimentary. Telephone (calling/credit card required) available in the lounge.
Coin operated payphone and post office located across street.
Located across from the parking we have lockers suitable for skis, snowboards and backpacks. Bring your own padlock or borrow one from us.
